Crown Prince awards F1 winners

Manama, Apr.19 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today awarded the prize to the winner of the 2015 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix champion, Lewis Hamilton from the Mercedes Petronas team.
His Royal Highness also awarded prizes to runner up Kimi Raikkonen from the Scuderia Ferrari team and third placed Nico Rosberg from the Mercedes Petronas team. His Royal Highness highlighted the Grand Prix’s huge success this year and that the event continues to play a vital role in Bahrain’s broad and diverse economic development.
His Royal Highness emphasised that the race provides a unique opportunity to showcase Bahrain on a global stage and supports the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to attract even more business investment and tourism to the country. He added that in addition to providing significant economic benefits to the hospitality and transport sectors, the event also brings outstanding cultural occasions that the country and wider region benefits from.
He went on to praise the role of the local community in welcoming thousands of visitors to the Kingdom over the race period, and noted the efforts of the Bahrain International Circuit staff and government officials who ensured a successful and enjoyable event took place.
His Royal Highness met numerous local and international motorsport enthusiasts throughout the race weekend and extended his appreciation for the wide-ranging support given to the Bahrain Grand Prix. His Royal Highness highlighted that the race and associated cultural events have continued to develop for over a decade and this year’s Grand Prix has further cemented the Kingdom’s reputation as the ‘Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’.
