COVID-19 Vaccination for PM on Feb 28

BANGKOK, Feb 25 (TNA) – COVID-19 vaccination was set for the prime minister and the public health minister on Feb 28 and for people on March 1, said Dr Sophon Mekthon, vice minister for public health. Dr Sophon who headed a government sub-committee on COVID-19 vaccination, said the Department of Medical Sciences would first verify vaccine production lots and check the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac and AstraZeneca companies. Then the vaccination for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul would happen at the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute on Feb 28. Inoculation for people in other provinces was set to start on March 1. Meanwhile, Dr Apisamai Srirangson, assistant spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said officials were looking for new COVID-19 cases among people traveling regularly between Samut Sakhon and Bangkok. The close surveillance followed the confirmation of two new cases who were natives of Bangkok but played for a futsal team in Samut Sakhon. The team consisted of 11 players, seven of whom were confirmed with COVID-19, she said. Two other new COVID-19 cases were also reported in Chai Nat province that had been free of new infection for 52 days. One new case might contract the disease from a previously confirmed case in Ayutthaya who returned home in Chai Nat. The other case was a local bank manager, Dr Apisamai said. (TNA)
