Coup promoter's trial begins

Manama, Aug. 24 (BNA): Advocate General Wael Bu Allay today announced that the first session of a trial involving an individual charged with inciting hatred and promoting political change using forceful means, began today at the Higher Criminal Court.
In light of the prosecution's evidence presented to the Court today, the Public Prosecution requested that the defendant be convicted of all charges. The individual’s trial follows a Public Prosecution statement that confirmed it had investigated a complaint put forward by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
The complaint stated that the alleged offences occurred shortly after the individual was released from prison, following a Royal Pardon. Upon his release, the defendant pledged to comply fully with the law, however he failed to do so. The Higher Criminal Court set the next trial date to 12 October 2015.
The Advocate General confirmed that the defendant will be remanded in custody, and that he has been afforded full legal rights and provided with the opportunity to meet with his legal team throughout.
