Cool Japan Fund Invests 50 M. Dlrs in Indonesia's Gojek

Tokyo, Oct. 17 (Jiji Press)--Japanese government-led Cool Japan Fund Inc. said Thursday it has invested 50 million dollars in Indonesian information technology giant Gojek. The fund aims to promote Japanese food and animation and drama content by helping the multiservice provider strengthen its delivery and streaming services. Gojek, founded in 2010, provides ride-hailing, smartphone-based delivery, electronic payment and music and movie streaming services in Southeast Asia. The company has received investment from U.S. technology giant Google LLC, leading Chinese IT company Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp. <8058>. Gojek is expanding business in five countries including Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. END
