Coalition to discuss way out on Thailand's reconciliation bill

BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) - Members of the coalition government of Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra are due to meet this Tuesday to discuss problems expected from a national reconciliation bill. Government whip chairman Udomdej Ratanasatien made the announcement on Sunday after a core yellow-shirt activist leader (PAD) Sondhi Limthongkul warned that PAD members would march on to Parliament this Wednesday -- the day that the Lower House was to begin deliberating on the proposed bill. Udomdej said Tuesday’s meeting would seek out solutions on the bill, which had been charged by activists as a genuine benefit to ousted Thai Premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Offering his cautious view, he urged PAD members to await the decision of House members on the reconciliation bill before making any move, which he feared, could spark off a new round of conflict in the country.
