Climate to change from Monday: BMD

Manama, Nov. 22 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain is likely to be affected by weather changes starting Monday, November 23 to continue until Thursday midday. Unstable weather conditions with chance of slight to medium downpours and heavy deluges in some areas on Tuesday and Wednesday becoming thundery at times associated with strong gusts of wind, according to an official source from Bahrain Meteorological Directorate (BMD). By Thursday, there will northwesterly directional winds with a noticeable cold spell as a result of the low atmospheric mass moving from the Mediterranean towards the central part of the Arab Peninsula and the Gulf which will cause the climatic disturbances in the region, the source said. The directorate cautioned citizens to take the necessary precautions, especially sea-farers. It is worth mentioning that the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) had issued a warning that the world may experience the Nino phenomenon that is the occurrence of big climate upheavals in some countries causing heavy rainfall and in other countries causing severe drought.
