Chinese Official Hails Qatar's Unique Economic Model

Beijing, May 16 (QNA) - An official from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has lauded Qatar's unique economic model, which has achieved spectacular growth rates despite difficult economic conditions globally. "The State of Qatar plays a significant role in economic and political domains at regional and international levels, Cao Jiachang, head of the department of West Asia and Africa in the Chinese Ministry of Commerce told Qatar News Agency (QNA). Jiachang has expressed his admiration for Qatar's rapid overall development, noting the ongoing transport infrastructure projects (new port and airport, along with improvements to road networks), which are undertaken by a number of Chinese companies. "Hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup here offers business opportunities for the Chinese companies to develop future collaboration with Qatar on a number of infrastructure projects," the Chinese official explained. On Free Trade Agreement negotiations between China and the GCC, Jiachang expressed his country's hope to resume these negotiations. Bilateral exchange between China and the GCC is more than 60% of China's exports to the Arab region. (QNA)
