Checkpoints on Kyrgyz-Uzbek border will be fully opened: Zhaparov

Bishkek, March 16, 2021. / Kabar /. Checkpoints on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will be fully opened, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said Tuesday during an interview with Azattyk radio.
He specified that during his visit to Uzbekistan it was decided to open all borders between the two countries so that people could freely travel to each other.
"We have seven checkpoints closed. We agreed to open them. Now the work is underway. We will fully open the borders with Uzbekistan," he said.
The head of state added Ak-Zhol-Kordai checkpoint on border with Kazakhstan will open on Apr. 2.
In September 2020, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan fully opened their borders. Prior to that, during the quarantine, borders of the two countries were working unilaterally. In other words, each state allowed only its own citizens to pass through according to its own algorithm.
