Cannabis Products Seized in Raid

BANGKOK, Nov 26 (TNA) – The Food and Drug Administration in collaboration with Consumer protection Police Division seized about 1,500 items including cannabis-infused gummies, vape oil and cosmetics, suspected to contain cannabis compounds worth more than 10 million baht from an online seller in Chiang Mai.
FDA secretary-general Dr Paisarn Dunkum on Monday told a press conference that the investigation had been conducted after a woman claimed that she was given hemp gummies from an actor.
The police pretended to be a customer and the operation led to a search at a house in Hangdong district and the seizure of these items. The suspect, identifies as Nithit Methiyanon, 30 said he had operated the website, called Siam CBD selling those items for two years.
He imported goods from the US. via shipping agents and he earned a least one million baht a month.
Under the law in Thailand, cannabis is allowed only for medical purposes. The seized products will be sent to the Department of Medical Sciences to examine if they contain cannabis compounds as shown on the labels.
An importer of a category 5 of drug without permission is liable to a maximum of five years in jail, and a fine of up to 500,000 baht. Selling and possessing the drugs is punishable by a maximum prison sentence of five years and/or a fine of up 100,000 baht. (TNA)
