Canada Reaffirms Its Support For Long-Term Development Projects In Iraq
BAGHDAD / NINA / Canadian Minister for International Development, Marie-Claude Bibeau confirmed that Canada is an ally of Iraq and its support will continue.
She said, during a meeting with the Minister of Planning, Salman al-Jumaili, according to a statement from the Ministry of Planning, that "the Canadian government provides support for Iraq in its war against terrorism through the international coalition, and Iraq can depend on Canada as an ally and a friend."
She added: "The Canadian support will not only be limited to humanitarian aid, but there is support for a long-term development projects."
For his part, Minister of Planning, pointed to the depth of the Iraqi - Canadian relations, praising the supporting role for Iraq adopted by Canada through its support as part of the international coalition to fight Daesh as well as to provide humanitarian aid for Iraq and for the region, especially in regard to the issue of refugees and displaced persons as well as the programs that relate to decentralization governments.
Jumaili made it clear that "The visit of the minister assure us that the world supports Iraq and interact with His case on the subject of reconstruction and rehabilitation of young people, women and girls as well as the rehabilitation of communities to combat the effects of Daesh."
During the meeting, according to the statement, they discussed bilateral relations and the promotion of decentralization and the reconstruction of liberated areas and a series of important economic, trade, investment issues of common interest for the two countries. / End
