Business Council of Korean companies interested in investing in Kyrgyzstan established in Korea

Bishkek, July 14, 2022. /Kabar/. Seoul, South Korea hosted a Kyrgyz-Korean business forum with the participation of leading Kyrgyz and Korean companies, as well as representatives of government agencies. The forum was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea, the press service of the Presidential Administration reported. During the event, a Kyrgyz delegation made a presentation on investment opportunities and tourism potential of the republic. In her speech, Kyrgyz Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova noted the great potential of the Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation in trade, economic, investment and other areas. In particular, digitalization, agriculture, textile and mining industries, energy, transport, "green economy", construction, education, tourism, etc. were identified as promising areas of Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation. In turn, Senior Vice President of Korea Telecom (KT) Moon Sunguk praised the support of the Kyrgyz Cabinet to hold the Kyrgyz-Korean investment forum. He noted that the main purpose of the investment forum is to create conditions to familiarize Korean business with the investment potential of Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan is a partner for KT and has good prospects for cooperation. Moon Sunguk said that KT will serve as a bridge for the development of the Kyrgyz-Korean relations and bring bilateral cooperation to a new level. During the forum, Head of the Political and Economic Research Department of the Presidential Administration Almaz Isanov made a presentation on the investment climate and opportunities of the Kyrgyz Republic. He informed about the measures taken by the Cabinet of Ministers to create favorable conditions for investors, and also answered questions of the forum participants from the Korean side. The forum participants expressed interest in establishing contacts between the business communities of the two countries for further cooperation in various areas. Following the results of the business forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Tourism Support Fund in the Kyrgyz Republic and the leading tour operator of Korea Hana Tour. The business forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, major South Korean companies, such as KT Constrution, KT, Omnisystem, Smartro, BC card, KOMSCO, Hana tour, etc., as well as a number of companies from Kyrgyzstan. Based on the results of the Kyrgyz-Korean business forum, a Business Council of Korean companies interested in investing in the Kyrgyz Republic was established.
