Bushehr NPP adds 940 mw of electricity to Iran's grid

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 30/Trend M. Moezzi/ Iran added 940 megawatts of nuclear generated electricity to its power grid on Saturday, Mehr news agency reports. The power was generated by the Bushehr Nuclear Plant near the Persian Gulf. Previously, about 730 megawatts of electricity were being added from Bushehr to the overall power network. Bushehr nuclear plant first started in 1975. After Iran's revolution in 1979, construction stopped until 1995 when Russia signed a contract to complete the plant. The 1,000-megawatt Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located southeast of the city of Bushehr along the Persian Gulf, had been already connected to the country's national power grid with the power of 60 MW on September 3, 2011. The plant was officially launched on September 12 and started generating electricity at 40 percent of its capacity. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
