Bt452m proposed for Thailand's 2012 tourism development
BANGKOK, January 4 (TNA) - Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports has planned nearly 30 projects on improving and developing tourism sites in the country to be funded by a state budget of some 452.22 billion baht.
According to Tourism Department Director General Supol Sripan, the proposed fund will be used to sponsor the 28 projects, aimed to further upgrade the efficiency and potential of the Thai tourism industry under a new national tourism promotional campaign on colouring the Kingdom, dubbed "Thailand's Miracle Year 2012."
Supol said his department's proposed budget, if approved by the Thai Parliament, will be used to improve, among others, landscape of Tung Talay Luang in the lower northern Sukhothai Province, Huay Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary in UThai Thani Province, a world heritage site in the Lower Thai North, Chang Ta Klang Village, an elephant centre, in the northeastern Surin Province, King Rama II Memorial Park in the central Samut Songkram Province, tourist attractions on Tao Island in the southern resort Surat Thani Province, as well as the Bueng Kui Educational Park, the Nong Kha Public Park and other attractions in the northeastern Maha Sarakham Province.
