British MP highlights Bahrain's religious freedom, tolerance

London , Oct. 22 (BNA): British Member of Parliament Rehman Chishti has highlighted Bahrain’s status as an outstanding example of tolerance and co-existence. The MP singled out Bahrain’s special standing as he was talking about religious freedoms in the world, particularly the Middle East, at the parliament. “There are communities in the Middle East facing persecution for their beliefs including Bahaiis in Iraq, Yazidis in Iraq,” he said. ”But there are also good examples of tolerance and co-existence such as in Bahrain. In the capital Manama, there are 19 churches, three Hindu temples, a synagogue all within close proximity to one another showing tolerance and freedom,” he said. On his Twitter account, MP Chishti posted that he “asked the Leader of the House for an urgent debate in Parliament today on religious freedom around the World.”
