Blanket of haze hits southern Thailand
BANGKOK, July 1 (TNA) - Forest fires on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island have brought about haze over several southern Thai provinces, causing poor visibility.
Thick haze has been reported above Narathiwat, Yala, Satun as well as Songkhla province and its key business district of Hat Yai. Storm winds in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are believed to have worsened the situation.
The local weather agency in the south says however, a measure on the air quality yields fair results, and there is no harm to human health at this stage.
An aerial survey earlier in the day showed continuing fire across 202 hotspots on Sumatra Island. (TNA)
