Bishkek to host Ice Hockey Cup among children and youth teams

An international ice hockey tournament for the Cup of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic among children and youth teams will be held in Bishkek, from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5, at the Bishkek Arena skating rink. Vice President of the Ice Hockey Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the main organizer of the Cup of the President of Kyrgyzstan Asel Abdygulova told at the press conference that for the first time in the history of national sports, with the support of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the tournament was given the high status of the Cup of the President of Kyrgyzstan. “Our tournament will be held among children of three age categories - 10, 13 and 14 years old. Participants are expected from the USA, Romania, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as from the regions of Kyrgyzstan. I am sure that after this tournament the level of interest in hockey will increase,” Asel Abdygulova said. In addition, a representative from the American Hockey Academy is expected to arrive, who will conduct the selection of children, and also show a master class for local coaches. The main organizers of the event were the Department of Sports and the Naryn Hockey League. Director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Shabdanbaev added that such events will become annual in Kyrgyzstan.
