Belarus Cultural Days Kick Off Wednesday at Qatar National Theatre

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - Belarusian cultural days start tomorrow at Qatar National Theatre and run over three days. HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said that holding the Belarusian cultural days in Doha reflects the excellent relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Belarus, pointing to Qatar's leading role on all the levels, especially the cultural and civilizational initiatives that contribute to enhancing the general and comprehensive meaning of culture. In his speech that was enclosed in the event's brochure, HE said that the event features several cultural and artistic segments including photography shows, folk paintings, popular dances, in addition to film screenings that all guarantee the Qatari crowd to get to know about the Belarusian culture and enjoy its arts. HE the Minister stressed that Doha has currently become a cultural capital and a home for innovation and excellence, pointing to hosting the best artistic shows, intellectual seminars, poets, intellectuals and artists at Doha theatres, which enriches culture and art, and elevates the human soul. On the other hand, Belarus's Minister of Culture Pavel Latushka expressed his pleasure at Qatar's hosting of the Belarusian cultural days, noting that it's the first time Belarusian artists perform in Doha in a major cultural occasion, which will introduce the Qatari audience to Belarus's national dancing band and the youth orchestra of Belarus Music Academy. Latushka thanked the Qatari Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage for organizing the event, and wished that Belarus would organize Qatari cultural days in order to enhance the cultural dialogue between the two countries and strengthen their cultural ties. Belarusian ambassador to Qatar Alexander Semeshko said that the Belarusian cultural days are the outcome of the cultural cooperation agreement that HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani signed during his visit to Belarus in 2009. Semeshko highlighted the deep Qatari Belarusian relations that started with economic and commercial cooperation and were later joined by cultural and media cooperation. Semeshko said that Belarus hopes to host Qatari cultural days in the future to increase the cultural exchange between the two countries. (QNA)
