BCS , RCM sign MOU to collect donations for cancer

Manama, Feb. 16 (BNA):M The Bahrain Cancer Society (BCS) and Rotary Club of Manama (RCM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both parties agreed to conduct fundraising campaigns to collect donations for the purchase of Flow Cytometry Medical Device specifically used in the diagnosis of Blood Cancers worth BHD 79, 000. The device will be donated to the Pediatric Oncology Department at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC). It is worth noting that the signing of the agreement marks the World Day to Combat Cancer and the GCC Cancer Awareness Week. Dr. Abdulrahman Fakhro, President of the Bahrain Cancer Society, and Mr. Raj Damani, President of Rotary Club of Manama, received a donation of BHD 20,000 from Ms. Salwa Al Moayyed, representative of the Yousif and Aisha Almoayyed Charity Foundation, to support this project. Dr. Fakhro thanked the RCM and Al Moayyed Group for their support and stressed the significance of availability of the Cytometry device for early diagnosis and clinical practice. Dr. Fakhro also emphasized the importance of the combined efforts of the community to fight this fatal disease. Mr. Damani emphasized that this is the latest in RCM’s efforts to provide for the welfare of Bahrain’s citizens and residents since it began 50 years ago.
