BBK announced as Lead Empowerment Sponsor

Manama, Aug. 2 (BNA): The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), today announced BBK as the Lead Empowerment Sponsor for the year-long campaign to celebrate and promote the role of "Women in the Financial and Banking Sector" being held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW.
As part of the planned activities, there will be a series of events including a number of roundtable and town hall sessions that will bring industry leaders and women of all levels within the sector together to discuss and debate topics of importance. These sessions will lead up to the main "Women in the Financial and Banking Sector Conference" to be held on 30 November 2015 at the Four Seasons Hotel.
BBK is considered a leader in the involvement and integration of women in the banking sector since its inception in 1972. It was the first bank to support women’s empowerment through the application of an integrated policy to promote and empower women and ensure gender equality.
Commenting, Abulkarim Bucheery, Chief Executive of BBK, said, "We are pleased to be a lead sponsor for the Women’s Day activities being held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. We are proud that currently 35% of BBK staff are women and that many of them have reached senior, managerial levels roles while the rest are on the same track for further growth and development."
He continued "As a organization, we always strive to cooperate with and support Civil Society institutions so that together we can promote social and economic development in the Kingdom in line with the goals and objectives set out by the government and Vision 2030".
Also recently announced as Lead Empowerment Partner is KFH- Bahrain, one of the Kingdom’s leading Islamic banking and finance providers and NBB, Bahrain’s first locally owned commercial bank. In addition to further sponsors, the CBB and SCW will soon announce other events and activities planned in cooperation with the banking and finance industry..
