Bangkok taxis disappear after flooding
BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - Almost fifty percent of cabs in Bangkok have disappeared from the streets, partly due to flooding in and around the city, according to a local taxi operator.
Kitti Homrosukon, president of a taxi-metre driver club, disclosed Monday that the continuous flooding in Bangkok has caused a shortage of taxi service as flood-affected operators have stopped providing services.
According to him however, around 60,000 of 100,000 cabs are still operating but many cabbies have refused to drive to flood-prone destinations.
Kitti said the short supply of taxis is also partly due to a difficulty in finding gas stations as many providers have been closed due to the floods. (TNA)
