Bahrain's telecommunications sector lauded

Manama, Nov. 21 (BNA): Chief Executive of Saudi Telecom Company (STC) Dr. Khalid Al-Biyari has revealed that discussions are going on between VIVA Bahrain and STC to activate many initiatives and bring them to the Bahraini market.
He was speaking at a press conference marking the 5th anniversary of inaugurating VIVA company and launching its service in Bahrain.
Al-Biyari described the Bahraini market as one of the most important ones as it always looks for the best in the technological field.
He stressed that investing in the telecommunications sector is a successful alternative to tackle economic and financial challenges undergone by the region and the whole world. He said Bahrain’s telecommunication market is promising, pointing out that the upcoming phase will witness an extension in the investment basis in Bahrain.
He thanked the Bahraini government for its keenness to boost the telecommunication sector’s attractiveness in Bahrain and capability to woo more investments. He also voices STC’s interest to continue investing in Bahrain.
Al-Biyari also praised VIVA’s five-year success in Bahrain which, he said, is owed to the kingdom’s sound telecommunication infrastructure and developed legislation.
He described the decision to invest in Bahrain as the right decision given the periodic results issued by VIVA Bahrain.
He also pointed out the radical changes undergone by the telecommunications market nowadays in terms of quality of services and the methods of providing them. Therefore, he emphasised the need to adapt to the changes dictated by technological progress
Al-Biyari lauded VIVA Bahrain’s high competitiveness which enabled the company to take up a new position in the telecommunications market.
Chief Executive of VIVA Bahrain Alyan Al-Wateed underlined the importance to continue being part of Bahrain’s future vision, pointing out strong partnership with the higher education sector in Bahrain.
"We have long-term training programmes which culminate in employment. Bahrain has always been distinct in terms of quality education which has a great impact on the educational output and the labour market," he said, pointing out 65% Bahrainisation rate in the company.
