Bahrain's Interior Minister receives Personality of the Year Award 2018

Manama, Dec. 10 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today received Bahrain Ambassador to the United States, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa. Capital Governor and Head of the committee of Maan "Together" programme against violence and addiction, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, also attended. The Interior Minister received the Personality of the Year Award 2018 presented to him by the US-based Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E. International), in appreciation of the success of the Maan Programme and the progress the Interior Ministry made compared with other organisations accredited by the organisation. He expressed gratitude to the prestigious award that reflected appreciation of the professionalism and excellence of the work team of Maan. He extended thanks to all those working in the programme, including supervisors, trainers and sponsors for their essential role in the success of the programme. He also expressed thanks to Bahrain's Ambassador to the US, who founded the programme in 2011 and managed it for six years, including setting plans, work mechanisms and programmes to achieve its goals. To further develop the programme to meet the sustainable development goals of the Economic Vision 2030, the Interior Minister directed to increase the number of trainers from the Community Police to increase the number of schools covered by the programme to 200, in order to increase the number of students to around 222000 to promote community partnership. He said that Maan Programme is a national project that has been successful since its inception. Bahrain's Ambassador congratulated the Interior Minister, highlighting the achievements of the Maan programme were part of the wise directives and endless support of the Interior Minister. He expressed appreciation to the the programme members for their dedication to protecting the youth from risks.
