Bahrain's Ambassador to UK addresses Royal College of Defence Studies

London, Oct. 27 (BNA): The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa upon an invitation by Sir Tom Philips, Commandant at the Royal College of Defence Studies and former Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, addressed an audience of Defence and Intelligence experts on the current epidemic of "Islamic Extremism and Expansionism". He pointed out the threat facing the Gulf states from terrorist groups where they strived to achieve real peace in the region and participated in all efforts to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestation using the actual tools that achieve it: diplomacy, intelligence, and military means. He highlighted the counterterrorism measures in response to combat extremism and terrorism and dry up its source and funding resources. Shaikh Fawaz noted the efforts exerted by the Saudi –led Arab coalition in defending the legitimacy in Yemen that ushering a new era in Gulf-led Foreign and Defence Policies. He affirmed that the Gulf States will never tolerate or hesitate to combat terrorism and eradicate it in order to achieve the security and stability of the region. He stressed that the Gulf region, and indeed the world, is therefore facing a real threat and achieving peace in these areas is impossible without competent and effective intelligence and military effort, as well as not to discount the value of such efforts in achieving world peace and prosperity. He stressed the vital role played by Western states in helping the Gulf States in fighting extremism.
