Bahrain-US military cooperation discussed

Manama, Feb 8 (BNA) – Commander-in-Chief of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, today received Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, and the accompanying delegation. An overview was presented of the BDF establishment and stages of development seen in the prosperous era of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. BDF Commander-in-Chief lauded the solid historical relations bonding the two countries and the growing cooperation in all fields, especially military one. The two sides discussed topics of joint interest. The meeting was also attended by BDF Chief of Staff, Lt-Gen. Diab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, Defence Undersecretary, Maj-Gen Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Inspector General Maj-Gen Abdullah Hassan Al-Nuaimi, and a number of senior officers. And the US side was attended by US Ambassador to Bahrain, William Roebuck, Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, Fifth Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces, Vice Admiral John Miller, Head of US Office for Military Cooperation, military Attache of US Embassy to Bahrain, Colonel Scott Rizir.
