Bahrain participates in White House Conference on combating extremism

Washington, Feb 19 (BNA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Undersecretary, Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif, participated in the White House Conference to Combat Violent Extremism held in Washington on 18-19 Feb 2015. US President Barack Obama, a number of foreign, interior and defence ministers from around the world took part in the event. President Obama strongly condemned Daash brutality and other terrorist organizations around the world, stressing combating these groups militarily and ideologically. He called on clergymen to confront extremist ideology, emphasizing improving economic and social conditions in all countries. He also condemned crimes committed by Bashar Al-Assad's regime and sectarian clashes in Syria. The participants underscored the need to intensify international efforts to combat all terrorist organizations and to eliminate all forms of violence to maintain security and stability. Foreign Undersecretary highlighted raising awareness among the youth to fight extremism, noting the role of governments and communities in orienting the youth toward building nations.
