Bahrain participates in OIC Ministerial Meeting

Kuwait, May 27 (BNA): Kuwaiti Amir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah opened the 42nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), entitled "Joint Vision to Strengthen Tolerance and Reject Terrorism".
In his statement, the Amir of Kuwait affirmed his country’s firm stand by the side of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and support for all the measures it takes to counter the crimes of terrorism and safeguard its security, following the recent terrorist attack it faced.
During the opening session, the Secretariat General of the OIC honoured the Amir of Kuwait with the title of "Commander of Humanitarian Action".
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al Jubeir gave a statement in which he affirmed that what was happening in Yemen was a clear example of the bad situation a number of Arab countries are currently going through.
"The phenomena of terrorism, violence and extremism which inflicted huge harm on the Islamic nation tops the challenges facing our nation," he said, adding that the gravity of the sinful terrorist attack that targeted al-Qudaih Mosque in Qatif Governorate, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia conflicts with all humanitarian and Islamic values.
He noted that the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had stressed that the Kingdom would never cease fighting the deviated group and their thought or confronting terrorism and eradicating it.
He also affirmed that terrorism and extremism work on tearing apart the Islamic nation into wrangling groups and parties.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is represented at the IOC session with a delegation, headed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Assistant Undersecretary for Arab & Afro-Asian Affairs and Organizations Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa.
It is noteworthy that the agenda of the two-day 42nd Session of the OIC discusses the adoption of political, economic, social, cultural, media, humanitarian, scientific and technological issues along with organizational and foundational matters.
It will also look into the situation in Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Libya as well as the conflicts engulfing the Islamic nation, countering international terrorism, "Islamophobia", distortion of the image of religions and the conditions of Islamic groups and communities living in non OIC-member states.
