Bahrain participates in MENA Transport Conference

Manama: May 13 – (BNA): Transport Ministry Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs, engineer Maryam Ahmed Jam'an, led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the Middle East, North African (MENA) Transport Conference/Show.
The event was organized by the Roads and Transportation Authority in Dubai, UAE, in association with the UITP – International Organisation for Public Transport Authorities and Operators.
The conference focused on integrated policies and technology to encourage passengers to avail from public transportation and also explored alternative financial resources, environmental impact of public transport and amelioration of urban dwellers' livelihood.
The conference discussed several topics and presentations were made by keynote speakers in the public transportation field. The conference also discussed future challenges of public transportation, sustainability, eco-conservation, generalization of benefits from experiences and modern technologies in this field.
Engineer Maryam Jam'an chaired the conference's session titled "Transportation Regulatory Authorities Introduce Integrated Cities Construction." The session shed light on the role of regulatory authorities, discussed policies, regulations, the importance of merging environmental sustainability in public transport infrastructure plans.
The Ministry of Transportation is a member in the International Union of Public Transport (UITP), which in turn seeks through its participation to exchange knowledge and best practices related to the public transportation sector. (IY)
