Bahrain marks World Standards Day

Manama, Oct.13 (BNA): The Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry will tomorrow mark the 45th World Standards Day (WSD) which falls on October14.
The annual celebration was specifically chosen to mark the establishment of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on the 14th October 1947.
The event was first celebrated on the 14th of October 1970 that the first World Standards Day WSD) was celebrated to highlight the importance of standards which are issued by international organisations, such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The event aims at raising global awareness among regulators, industry and consumers of the importance and benefits of standardisation to the global economy and also honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who developed voluntary standards within three worldwide standards development organizations.
