Bahrain to mark 70th anniversary of UN

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA): Bahrain will join the world in a global media campaign conducted by the UN with more than 45 countries to mark its 70th anniversary. The United Nations' official blue colour will light more than 150 symbolic landmarks including buildings, museums and bridges. The blue colour will illuminate the historic Bu Maher Fort, south of Muharraq, which dates back to the Portuguese era in Bahrain. The fort is considered the starting point in exploring the Pearl Route project which was registered in UNESCO's World Heritage List. The blue colour will also light Bahrain University Library which was established in 1986 and contains publications of the World Bank and the United Nations as well as data bases of various disciplines.
