Manama, May11(BNA)The government has today endorsed a viable control system to monitor violations and fight embezzlement and public money squandering. Addressing a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting, she said that Bahrain enforces world-standard control systems on par with other developed countries, citing particularly the National Audit Office, the internal auditors and all other institutions which are affiliated with the Finance Ministry.
"The Minister of Finance will issue an edict promulgating the new control mechanism which will be then included in the unified financial guide", she said. She described the new scheme as a new step forward which complements other institutions which monitor financial and administrative irregularities to protect public money.
The minister revealed that contracts had already been awarded to selected companies which will undertake the construction of the public transport infrastructure. She stressed the importance of developing public transport services for citizens and residents, adding that tangible results would materialize soon.
Regarding the blaze which broke out in a room located at the Information Affairs Authority (IAA), the minister said that the ministerial probe committee has yet to release its findings. She revealed plans to assign media attaches abroad as part of the ministry's wide-ranging media strategy which was endorsed by the Cabinet. She pointed out that the position of the media attaché has already been incorporated in the new (IAA) organizational chart.
