BACA President visits Khalifia Library

Manama, Dec.20 (BNA): The iconic Al-Khalifia library in Muharraq is undergoing a major revamp to be turned into a cultural and tourism destination. Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa today inspected the progress of work on the milestone which dates back to sixty years ago. She was accompanied by Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Chief Executive Officer Abdulkarim Bucheeri. BACA President stressed resolve to continue efforts to conserve Bahrain's heritage and preserve the urban features of towns to bear witness to the Kingdom's longstanding history. She underlined the crucial role of the private sector in promoting the Invest in Culture Project, citing the BBK contribution. She pointed out that the revamped Al-Khalifia Library would be part of the cultural and tourism attractions in Muharraq, Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.
