BACA president participates in 21,39 Jeddah Arts

Jeddah, Feb. 13 (BNA): President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa participated in 21,39 Jeddah Arts in its third edition at the invitation of the Saudi Art Council (SAC).
21,39 Jeddah Arts is held under the patronage of SAC Chairperson Princess Jawaher bint Majed Al Saud between February 10 and May 10, 2016.
It held a number of seminars on Saturday February 13 on the relation between the local art and the regional art movement, with the participation of a number of experienced artists, specialists and professionals.
Shaikha Mai participated in a seminar entitled "Creating cultural spaces: the revival of the cultural district of Muharraq" on cultural districts and their significance to the cities around the world, in which she addressed the challenges facing the revival of Muharraq as a cultural district and the impact of working in it on the local community.
She said that the cultural movement and infrastructure enriches communities and make a positive impact.
She pointed out that the restoration of urban features in the city of Muharraq through the houses of Shaikh Ebrahim’s centre has revived the city and turned these centres into places for cultural and civilization action.
She affirmed that the relation between the private and public authorities and stressed the common goal of consolidating the local and national identity and strengthening the cultural and historical belonging to the homeland.
Shaikha Mai said that culture became a reality lived everyday over the past years, which put Bahrain on the map of global cultural tourism, which we did was not only an asset of the civil sector, but an achievement of a lot of entities.
21,39 Jeddah Arts is an annual initiative held in Jeddah, which presents an exclusive insight into the talent and cultural landscape of The Kingdom and encourages investment in arts. The name is the initiative is inspired from the geographical coordinates of Jeddah (21 north, 0.39 east). It focused on the history of modern and contemporary art in Jeddah, as well as influential figures who had an important role in enhancing the status of Saudi Art and the Arab world on the cultural map of the world.
