BACA President meets State Hermitage Museum Director

Saint Petersburg, Dec. 15 (BNA): President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met today the State Hermitage Museum Director Mikhail Piotrovsky and reviewed the ongoing cooperation that began years ago, as the museum hosted "Tylos: The Journey Beyond Life" exhibition in July 2012 before shifting to Moscow State Museum of the East.
They reviewed holding an exhibition on Delmon at the museum in 2017 and explored joint cooperation on restoring artifacts that were excavated in Bahrain in order to enrich Bahrain National Museum and Bahrain Fort Museum.
Shaikha Mai expressed thanks for this cultural meeting which reflects the deep-rooted bilateral relations as Bahrain and Russia celebrated recently the silver jubilee of their diplomatic relations.
She underscored the importance of Bahrain's presence in exhibitions so as to promote the Kingdom's civilisation through one of the most prestigious museums in the world.
Piotrovsky welcomed Shaikha Mai and expressed happiness about the cultural meeting.
The State Hermitage Museum is one of the largest and most important museums in the world. It was established in 1764, and has been open to the public since 1852.
The museum's collection features more than three million pieces, including the largest collection of paintings in the world. The museum consists of six historic buildings constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries, among which the most significant is the Winter Palace and the former imperial residence.
