Azerbaijani FM: Now France should consider Khojaly genocide

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.22 / Trend S.Agayeva/ Several European MPs are turning into a tool for certain circles, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's spokesman Elman Abdullayev said commenting on the adoption of a bill on the so-called "Armenian Genocide" by the French Senate. "If France has such a principal approach to certain issues, then it should also consider the Khojaly genocide as a OSCE Minsk Group c-chair," Abdullayev said. French Senate adopted a bill on criminal prosecution for denial of the so-called "Armenian genocide", CNN Turk TV channel reported. MPs from the French President's "Union for Popular Movement" (UMP) party which has the parliamentary majority, proposed a bill which aims at criminalizing denial of the so-called "Armenian genocide" to the legislative committee of the National Assembly in early December. Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of Turkey - Ottoman Empire had committed the 1915 genocide against the Armenians living in Anadolu, and achieved recognition of the "Armenian Genocide" by the parliaments of some countries.
