Azerbaijan, Georgia ready to cooperate on border issues

Georgia, Tbilisi, May 20 /Trend N. Kirtskhalia/
The heads of Border Services of Georgia and Azerbaijan held talks today on David Gareji monastery complex problems. As the head of Department of Analysis and Information of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia Shota Utiashvili told Trend, Zaza Gogava and Elchin Guliyev agreed on a specific behavior in the border area of the complex.
"The parties agreed that the Azerbaijani border guards return to the borders held prior to May 6, allow Georgian pilgrims and foreign tourists to the territory of the monastery, which is on Azerbaijan territory, while Georgian side ensuring to prevent them going deep into the territory of Azerbaijan" - he said.
Both sides expressed readyness to joint cooperation on border issues.
As Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze stated on Sunday in Chicago, Georgia in the near future will ask Azerbaijan to hold a joint meeting of the delimitation commission for the border area, associated with David Gareji.
