Authorities await Myanmar's green light to visit Thai detainees
BANGKOK, July 17 (TNA) - Authorities have awaited an official permission from the Myanmar Foreign Ministry, before crossing the border to visit 92 Thai detainees.
Regarding help for the 92 Thai detainees charged with encroaching Myanmar's territory, Colonel Pornsak Pulsawat, Commander of the 25th Infantry Regiment under the Royal Thai Army's Thepsatri Task Force, told reporters on Tuesday that he has assigned Thai military officers to closely coordinate with the Myanmar side to secure updates on progress of the case and living conditions of the Thai detainees.
Colonel Pornsak, in his capacity as chief of the Thai-Myanmar Border Coordination Committee for the Thai side, said he has been informed that all the Thai detainees have been under separate care from Myanmar detainees and have been safe.
Colonel Pornsak insisted that he will dispatch Thai officers to visit the Thai detainees once receiving an official approval from the Myanmar Foreign Ministry. (TNA)
