Australian Government Supports Agenda Proposed by Indonesia In IORA

Jakarta, IORA - Australian Government always supports any agenda proposed by the Government of Indonesia as the Chairman of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) since 2015. "Australia always supports any agenda proposed by Indonesian Government related to Indian Ocean," said Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop in the Council of Ministers Meeting at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Monday (6/3). According to her, this is a remarkable achievement for Indonesia in leading IORA over these two years. Indonesia’s agenda that have been supported by Australia are, among others, the security of Indian Ocean, natural disaster mitigation, as well as economic and technology cooperation. "This is an achievement for the organization which was initiated by Indonesia," said Julie. For this Summit, which is the first Summit for IORA, the Australian Government will also give support for several agendas, such as economic strengthening for women in Indian Ocean region and blue economy. “Support for those agendas is important to enhance the cooperation among countries in Indian Ocean region," Julie concluded.
