Asian Games Facilities Development Projects 70 Pct Finished
JAKARTA, March 27 (Antara) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla as chief of the Asian Games 2018 steering committee said here on Sunday that Asian Games facilities' development and renovation projects have been 70 percent finished.
"Well, it is difficult to make an average but all have pledged most of them will be finished by the end of this year. It is now already 70 percent finished and so around October they will have finished," he said after inspecting the development of Athletes' Village project in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
Earlier the vice president took a look at the development of three out of 14 sports facilities at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex including the GBK main stadium, the aquatic facility and Senayan sports hall.
"Although only few have been checked they already represent all as the biggest project is the GBK and all of them have shown progress and so it is hoped they will have been finished by the end of this year," he said.
After visiting the GBK sports complex as well as the Athletes' Village in Kemayoran Kalla visited the velodrome and the equestrian field in Pulo Mas, East Jakarta.
"If the GBK which is the biggest project could be finished by the end of this year and so will certainly the others. We still have until August 2018 while administratively we have until July 2018," he said.
Despite all the facts Vice President Jusuf Kalla said all infrastructure development projects must be assured to meet the quality standard and the deadline as trials would be done in October this year.
"We will conduct trials on the facilities and they wil not only be done once but several times," he said.
During the inspection Kalla was flanked by coordinating minister for human development and culture, Puan Maharani, minister of public works Basuki Hadimuljono, minister/ state secretary Pratikno and chairman of the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee, Erick Thohir.
