Ashghal Completes 70 Km of New Drainage Network
Doha , February 05 (QNA) - The General Works Authority "Ashghal" said Sunday that it has finished 70 Km of the pipelines of the drainage networks in Musaimeer and Ein Khaled areas.
The 70 Km were completed within a year after the beginning work according to schedule and a total of 240 Km will be completed as part of the project. The authority said that it will carry out 1800 connections between homes and the network during the second quarter of 2012.
The project includes building a new drainage network for Misaimeer, Ein Khaled in Doha and Rayyan on three phases. The Authority laid the projects on three contractors, the Qatar Trading and Contracting Group, Qatar Construction Company and Nael bin Harmal at a total cost of QR 675 million. Danish company COWI will oversee the three contracting companies work.
The project is set to be finalized in 2015. The project will be completed on three phases and has taken into account the population's distribution. The projects starts from the highly populated areas moving towards the less populated ones and will establish 9100 home connections, in addition to installing a pumping station with a capacity of 11664 cubic meters.
State of the art technology is used to control undesirable odours. The pumping station will be installed on two stages.
The designing period took six months, since the project started in July 2010. The authority coordinated with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Q-tel, Qatar Petroleum, KAHRAMA among others.
The planning phase will be followed by a field survey on the path of the drainage network. (QNA)
