Asean+3 Contribute Rice Donations To Thailand's Flood Victims
BANGKOK, December 1 (TNA) - The ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR), under the supervision of the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives's Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) and Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) will jointly contribute rice donations to flood victims in Thailand.
According to OAE Secretary-General Apichart Jongsakul, APTERR and MAFF will distribute 10,000 five-kilogram bags of 5 per cent white rice, weighing 50 tonnes in total, and 31,000 cans of ready-to-eat rice to people in 12 flood-hit provinces in Thailand's northern and central regions, through several agencies and foundations including those under the Thai Red Cross Society and the Chaipattana Foundation, starting from December this year.
The 12 provinces include Ayutthaya, Chainat, Lopburi, Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani and Bangkok.
The ASEAN+3 group comprises 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, including Thailand, and the ASEAN bloc's three dialogue partners, including China, Japan and South Korea. (TNA)
