ASEAN Synchrotron Science Camp in Thailand closed

BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) - The First ASEAN Synchrotron Science Camp, hosted by Thailand's northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province from May 14-19, was closed Saturday, with participants are expected to apply knowledge on synchrotron technology shared during their six-day joint activities for national and regional benefits. Some 200 teachers and students from seven member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand joined the camp, which was held at the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI). The camp was also aimed to build up research on synchrotron light and to re-affirm Thailand’s position as a leader in synchrotron technology in the region. The SLRI is an organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology, tasked mainly with developing synchrotron science and technology. Thailand is now capable of producing synchrotron light with energy of 1.2 electron-volts and has nine research centers to support the development of synchrotron science and technology. (TNA)
