Army Chief urges authorities to avoid giving redundant flood assistance
BANGKOK, October 31 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has urged Bangkok’s Sai Mai district and the Bangkok City Council to work closely in giving flood assistance, to avoid redundant efforts.
General Prayuth made the call on Monday morning when visiting flood victims in Sai Mai district, where he was briefed on the local situation by District Chief Nongpanga Boonpak and members of the Bangkok Council.
Accompanied by 1st Army Region Commander, Lieutenant General Udomdej Sitabutr, the Thai army chief later visited a shelter area at Rittiyawanalai 2 school in Sai Mai district, to hand out relief packs, before heading off to Don Mueang area.
Meanwhile, the Army said its 11th infantry regiment will start relocating tanks and weaponry on Monday afternoon from its compound in Bang Khaen area, to its 3rd infantry division in Petchaburi province. He told the public not to worry and overreact to the relocation. (TNA)
