Arab League Ministerial Level Meeting Kicks off in Cairo Ahead of Doha Summit
Cairo, March 06 (QNA) - The Arab League's 139th ministerial level session has kicked off here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Egypt's Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, who succeeded Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour, in the presence of the Arab League Secretary General dr.Nabil el-Arabi.
HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani is heading the Qatari delegation to the session, which discusses a number of issues, notably the Syrian crisis and Palestinian issue.
The meeting was due to review the situation in Syria in light of the recent meetings, consultations and contacts in relation to a dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition, in addition to the future aspects of reaching a settlement for the two-year crisis.
The agenda of the Arab summit, set to be held in Doha at the end of the month, will also be discussed, along with developments in Palestine, particularly the issues of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), the Israeli settlement activities, the activation of the Arab peace initiative, as well as following up on Palestine's accession to the U.N. organizations.
