Arab, Lavrov Discuss The Latest Developments In Syria and The Palestinian Territories

Cairo / NINA / The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Elaraby held talks in New York with Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister focused on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, and in light of the serious escalation of the Israeli government's positions and their constant settlement operations, attacks and violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the League today, the two sides exchanged views, during the meeting, on the ongoing arrangements to hold the expanded ministerial meeting of the International Quartet Committee to be held on Wednesday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, which the Arab side, for the first time, will participate and be represented by the foreign ministers from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Secretary-General of the Arab League. The statement added that the talks also touched the latest developments in Syria, where Lavrov offered his country's position on the war against Daash (ISIS) terrorist, and its assistance to the governments of Syria and Iraq to defeat terrorism and maintain security and stability in the region. / End
