All conditions for renewable energy sources development created in Kyrgyzstan, minister

Bishkek, June 24, 2022. /Kabar/. Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Doskul Bekmurzaev took part in the Second Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). In his speech, Bekmurzaev stressed that the development of renewable energy sources is one of the strategically important directions of development of the electric power industry of Kyrgyzstan, as a promising source of covering domestic needs of the national economy in energy capacity, the Energy Ministry said. "The Kyrgyz Republic has a huge water and energy potential and the potential of renewable energy sources, the country has broad prospects for the commissioning of new generating capacity, primarily the construction of Kambarata HPP-1, which has a strategic nature," said the minister, noting that due to renewable hydro resources large HPPs in Kyrgyzstan produce over 90% of electrical energy,” Bekmurzaev added. He said that Kyrgyzstan provides for preferences for producers of electricity and heat generated using renewable energy sources, including tax and customs privileges and mandatory purchase by large distribution companies of all electricity generated by renewable energy entities. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the status and prospects of changes in the global and regional energy agenda, and signed a protocol on the results of the meeting of energy ministers of SCO member states.
