Al-Sisi to Minister of Defense: Egypt supports Iraq and seeks to strengthen its Arab national role

Baghdad / NINA / - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt supports Iraq and seeks to strengthen its Arab national role. The Egyptian presidency stated: "Al-Sisi met today Lieutenant-General Gomaa Enad Saadoun, Minister of Defense, in the presence of Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defense and Military Production." Ambassador Bassam Radi, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the Minister of Defense conveyed a written message to the President from Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the Iraqi Prime Minister, which included an affirmation of Iraq’s appreciation of the Egyptian efforts in support of the Iraqi issue at all levels, and aspiration to strengthen cooperation frameworks with Egypt, and to benefit from the inspiring Egyptian success experience led by the President in the development field and its transfer to Iraq, in addition to appreciating the Egyptian role in support of Iraq, a role that represents a strategic depth for the Arab nation, especially with regard to facing common challenges, foremost of which is combating terrorism and achieving security, stability and development. The President asked to convey his greetings to his two brothers, President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, stressing Egypt's keenness to cooperate with brotherly Iraq in all fields, within the framework of the constants of Egyptian policy by supporting Iraq and strengthening its Arab national role, and achieving everything that would achieve the interests of Iraq and its people at various levels, and helps it to overcome all challenges, combat terrorism, and maintain its security and stability. The Spokesman added that the meeting dealt with discussions on bilateral military cooperation, including joint training programs, exchange of experiences and raising capabilities, as well as a review of a number of Arab and regional issues and files of common interest./End
