Al Mahmoud Meets New Head of UNAMID

Doha, February 05 (QNA) - HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met Tuesday with Head of the African Union and United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Mohammed Ibn Chambas, who is currently visiting Doha. At the outset of the meeting, Al Mahmoud congratulated Ibn Chambas on taking up his duties and expressed willingness to cooperate with the UNAMID to establish peace and stability in Darfur and to carry out reconstruction projects. For his part, Ibn Chambas praised the efforts of the State of Qatar in bringing about peace and development in Darfur. He stressed on the importance of cooperating with all parties to implement the Doha Document for Peace, saying that he was optimistic about the future of peace in Darfur, particularly in light of the recent progress made in negotiations that took place in Doha. A number of their excellencies members of the cabinet's general-secretariat attended the meeting. (QNA)
