Al Mahmoud Congratulates Sudanese Government and GEM

Doha, March 24 (QNA) - HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud has praised the efforts made by the negotiating delegations of the Sudanese government and the Justice and Equality Movement which resulted in the signing today of an agreement of the basis of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. In a speech he gave at the outset of a meeting between the two negotiating delegations ahead of the signing, Al Mahmoud said this agreement covered most of the issues of interest to the two sides, expressing pleasure over what has been achieved. He thanked the two sides for their efforts to reach this agreement and expressed special thanks to the Justice and Equality Movement for its cooperation and keenness on reaching peace and their agreement to accept the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. Al Mahmoud explained that sessions will be held after the agreement to complete some matters of interest to the two sides, hoping that a final peace agreement would be concluded. Congratulating the people of Darfur and the people of Sudan in general, HE the Deputy Prime Minister expressed the hope that what has been reached today would achieve the aspired peace and stability. He said "we are working together to prepare for the Darfur reconstruction conference which will be a good omen for peace, development and the people of Darfur." (QNA)
