Akylbek Zhaparov: Kyrgyzstan is country of athletes and sports fans

Kyrgyzstan is a country of athletes and sports fans, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov said during the opening ceremony of the Asian Championship among cadets and juniors up to 23 years in Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling. He noted that about 2,000 athletes from more than 40 countries are taking part in the championship. "Wrestling is an ancient game, left to us from our ancestors. We are very proud of our winners of the Olympic Games: Kanat Begaliev, Ruslan Tumonbaev, Aisuluu Tynybekova, Akzhol Makhmudov, Meerim Zhumanazarova. About 50,000 children in Kyrgyzstan are engaged in sports in sports schools, sports complexes and various sports institutions and clubs. We are interested in developing sports and improving the health of the population," the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet said. Zhaparov added that on the instructions of President Sadyr Zhaparov a stadium for 22,000 seats will be built, as well as a gymnasium for the national women's wrestling team. "Gyms will be built in all schools of the republic, which will allow to bring up talented athletes for a great sport," said Zhaparov, wishing the participants of the championship great success.
