After IORA Summit, Minister of Trade to Visit Africa

Jakarta, IORA – Minister of Trade will immediately pay a visit to Africa to embark on the potential trade cooperation post Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit 2017 in Jakarta “President Joko WIdodo has instructed to touch the African market,” said Minister of trade, Enggartiasto Lukita in IORA Media center, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senin (6/3). This visit will be conducted accordingly by inviting the members of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce to review any trade cooperation potential. After finding out the cooperation potential, they will seek the countries that facilitate the process. The facility is given so that the trade can give an impact to the Indonesian people welfare. “Usually the process is FTA and then FDA, we want to seek a process that can jump over all the process,” said Enggartiasto. On the other side, this summit momentum must be maximized so that IORA member states can enthusiastically build the cooperation trade. Based on the data, the population of people living in the rim of Indian Ocean reaches 2,7billions and majorly the ocean is also passed as the world sea transportation road from pacific. “Half numbers of the ships pass through the Indian Ocean and two third of tanker ship route also pass through it too,” Enggartiasto said. The summit is expected to encourage IORA members to immediately build trade cooperation with Indonesia. “We will encourage them make deals with the Chamber of Commerce,” Enggartiasto ended.
